Friday Fotos

Friday Foto: Where blogs are written…sometimes.

*peeps out from behind the couch* Yes I have been ultra lame this week and totally neglected the blog. Homework, family, lack of sleep….. all got in my way. I am doing my penance by showing you yet another shameful part of my life. I hate to clean. Remember the laundry? Well, I give you my desk….

Messy Desk

Go ahead, click on it to see the full depth of my shame in full size. See my awesome purple converse down there? BUT! I can happily report I today I actually got things cleaned up….. woohooo! My macbook is now happily resting on my desk in uncluttered delight. I have proof! I even redid my bulletin board to include my author goodies (thank you Moira Rogers and Ann Aguirre).

Clean Desk

Things you can see if you click and make it bigger? My hardcover copy of Changes by Jim Butcher – I pet it daily. My stack of calculators… yes I have 3, no I don’t know why. My kindle in its purple Oberon Cover charging. My iphone, never leave home without it. OH and my mouse for the laptop…. apparently things that you thought were lost are not if you clean! Oh yes, cover flats for Skin Tight and Skin Deep…. and cool character cards from Red Rock Pass series on the bulletin board. I also kept the card Bree sent me with them solely because she makes mention of sticking Andrew in the mail to me….

*sigh* confession is good for the soul.

Friday Foto: Gardens in Vegas

Today you get a glimpse at my tiny garden in my Vegas backyard – various greens and geppers to be specific. It was either that or my schoolbooks because I am studying for a math exam today… I know that gets you all worked up. ;)

The soil here is worthless so the best thing to do in the desert is to build your garden up…. aka raised boxes. I follow the square foot gardening philosophy but I am a bad example… I don’t mark out my squares like a good girl. I just plop some plants in and hope for the best. I’m also a lazy gardener…. the irrigation is so I don’t have to do anything but pull a few weeds here and there. In fact I have ignored the garden all week and all seems to be well, other than I really need to prune some greens to give to the tortoise.

Have a great Friday – my goals for today…. Get Silver Borne review written and path my math exam!

Friday Foto: Mountain of Laundry

I post about books, kindles, and more books – but I mostly keep my personal stuff on my family blog (which isn’t nearly as cool as this one). So this week I was trying to think of what I could do to get more posting done on this blog since I can only read so fast! I came up with the thought of “Friday Fotos” – a feature where I could share a photo from my day that gives you guys a tiny glimpse into my life. It could be a fun way to get to know me other than through the books I read.

So what do you learn this week? That I am a slob?…. Not really tho it probably looks like it. I blame this mountain of laundry partly on Suzanne Collins and her Hunger Games series, but also my kids. This pile started off as a nice neat folded laundry pile with each of us having our own basket of clothing. I usually give it to the girls to take care of but this week I asked them to leave it because I was going to sort out the cold weather clothes now that it is warming up. HUGE MISTAKE. Seriously, huge. I haven’t had a chance to go through it yet (this is where the Hunger Games books come in) so every day they come out and pull clothing out of their basket and just walk away as the rest fall on the floor. On top of that the 8 year old has decided the chair is the perfect place to store her leftover homework and school stuff.

Today’s goal – Deal with this pile. No Lion’s Heat for me until its gone!
